  • Will servicing my car improve its performance

    Yes


    During a car service, there are several areas that we check that will help to improve the performance of your car. Firstly changing the oil and oil filter will improve the lubrication of the car’s engine, making it perform more efficiently and increasing its lifespan.   We will also check your tyres to ensure they are inflated to the correct pressure and that tread levels are well within legal requirements. This will not only improve the fuel efficiency and safety but also the performance and handling of your car


  • will a service improve the fuel economy of my car

    Yes, absolutely. As part of our servicing packages we will ensure that your engine has the right amount of engine oil, your tyres are inflated to the correct level etc.


    This will ensure your car runs smoothly and efficiently increasing the miles per gallon (MPG) you will get from your car.

    There are three things we will need from you when you bring your car in for its service:

    At Berkshire Car Care, we offer a range of servicing options to meet your needs. You may need one of our standard services for your car. You can see more information on what is included with these in the Car Servicing Checklist below


    However, you may require a more specialist service because you have a classic or high-performance sports car. If so, we can also help you with a bespoke service.

  • Is it a legal requirement to get my car serviced

    No, it is not a legal requirement to get your car serviced. However it is a legal requirement to ensure that you car is road worthy and safe to drive on the road.  


    Having your car professionally serviced will help to ensure that your car is safe to drive. We will check the lights, tyres, brakes and fluid levels etc


    There are also many other benefits of getting your car serviced regularly such as improved fuel efficiency, reliability, complying with your vehicle warranty and increasing the value of your car

  • How often should I service my car

    Ideally you should service your car in line with the manufactures guidelines. Normally that is every 12000 or 20000 miles or every year, whichever comes first.

  • I don’t drive many miles; do I still need to service my car every year

    Yes. Even if you only drive a few hundred miles a year a lot can happen to your car in that time. Also cars are designed to be driven regularly and engine components can seize up, tyres can perish. Many things won’t be obviously noticeable and will require a professional to identify them.

  • Can I just change the oil & filter

    Changing your car’s oil and oil filter is essential to maintaining your car and running smoothly.  


    However, much more is included in either a major or interim service that will help keep your car running reliably. You can see from the Car Servicing Checklist below everything that is included in our car interim and full car servicing packages.


  • How do I know when my car service is due

    There are generally two ways to know when your car needs servicing.  


    Firstly check your Car Servicing Log Book to see when the last service was completed. The service provider will often note when the next service should be due. This will either be within a certain number of miles or on the yearly anniversary of the service, whichever comes first.


    Secondly, your car may also tell you when a service is due. The onboard computer on many cars will notify you when a service is due or soon to be due.
